From March 11 to 12, 30 students enrolled in the Petroleum Engineering and Project Development (PEPD), Energy and Processes (ENEP), Processes and Polymers (POLY) and Energy and Markets (ENM) programs visited Saipem’s offshore installation vessel « Constellation », which was docked at wharf 10 in Marseille for a lengthy refit.
The students were accompanied by Zita Kasparian, PEPD Program Supervisor, and Magy Avedissian, ENM Program Supervisor.
The group had the opportunity to spend a night on board the ship. With its huge Huisman crane and 3,000-ton lifting capacity, the Constellation is one of the stars of Saipem’s fleet. It is a 178-meter-long, 46-meter-wide pipe laying vessel that carries out a wide range of engineering and construction activities in the Oil & Gas sector, as well as in offshore wind farms.
This was an opportunity for the students to discover the ship’s technology, equipment and operations.
They were also able to talk to Bertrand Maréchal, CEO of Saipem France and honorary patron of the IFP School Class of 2023.
Students graduating this summer also met with Saipem’s HR team to discuss career opportunities.
The School would like to warmly thank Saipem for this unique experience offered to its students!
