IFP School moves into the final round of the 2024 Laurie Dake Challenge

2024 Laurie Dake Challenge finalists

A team of five IFP School students has qualified for the final round of the 2024 Laurie Dake Challenge, organized by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

The qualified team is made up of students from the Petroleum Geosciences (PGS) and Reservoir Geoscience and Engineering (RGE) programs: Nada Elmaasry (Egypt), Julie Hatcherian (France), Sergio Ornellas (Brazil), Raizza Peres Carrillo (Portugal) and Carla Piche (France).

The group will face the other five finalists on June 9 in Oslo, Norway:

  • Universitetet i Stavanger (Norway);
  • The University of Manchester (United Kingdom);
  • Institut für Maschinenwesen (IMW), TU Clausthal (Germany);
  • Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil) and
  • Université M’hamed Bougara Boumerdes (Morocco).

To qualify, the IFP School team assessed and developed the Volve oil field in the North Sea, according to a zero-carbon emissions strategy and using data provided by Equinor.

On June 12, Natacha Cambriels, a graduate of IFP School's Economics and Business Management program (EGE, class of 1997) and President of Butagaz SAS, was appointed President of the France Gaz Liquides association.
