IFP School took part in the “Gas Hydrates” Days, organized by the CNRS Hydrates Research Group (GDR) in partnership with the University of Lille. The event took place from December 3 to 5, 2024 in Lille, bringing together academic experts, researchers and industrialists to discuss gas hydrates, a topic at the heart of today’s energy challenges.
The event provided an opportunity for a wide-ranging exchange of views on emerging processes and technological applications related to gas hydrates, with key topics including:
- Gas storage and transportation,
- Capture and separation of gaseous or liquid effluents,
- Treatment of salt water (desalination) and leachates,
- Thermal and refrigeration applications.
On this occasion, Mohamad Abdallah, a lecturer at IFP School’s Processes for Energy and Chemistry center, presented his research work on X-ray micro-tomography analysis of natural gas hydrates crystals formed in the presence of anti-agglomerant additives (X-ray micro-tomography analysis of natural gas hydrates crystals formed in the presence of anti-agglomerant additive).
Congratulations to the authors and co-authors, whose work contributes to a better understanding of the complex interactions between gas hydrates and commercial anti-agglomerant additives (Low Dosage Hydrate Inhibitors LDHI), with promising applications in energy and gas transport: Mohamad Abdallah, Anne Sinquin, Maxime Pélerin, Thibaud Chevalier, Emilie Abadie, Arnaud Desmedt, Nicolas Lesage and Annie Fidel-Dufour.
The School’s participation in this scientific congress shows its commitment to developing innovative technologies to meet energy and environmental challenges.
